The Schwartz Foundation has purchased five portable homes, and a portable bathroom block, which were fully equipped with furniture, bedding, and TV’s and sent to Dixons Creek Recreation Reserve in the Yarra Ranges to be set up as an accommodation hub. This is at a location which used to be 3 tennis courts. It was nicknamed “Little Ibis on Dixon”.
This was arranged by Brett Ellis from the Yarra Ranges Council and management of the site by the recovery centre in Yarra Glen with many of the local community members offering to keep an eye out and assist.
The site is central to the affected area in the Yarra Ranges making it possible for many of the families to use the accommodation hub when returning to their properties as well as being able to be used by volunteer workers helping out over the weekends.
